DAY 1 –
ARRIVAL
Arrival at
Lisbon Airport. Meeting with our representative and transfer to Fatima.
Check-in formalities & overnight at the chosen hotel in Fatima.
DAY 2 –
FULL DAY FATIMA
Departure
for visiting the Sanctuary and the New Chapel. Free time for lunch. In the
afternoon walking visit to the Valinhos. It is possible to walk along
the route which the three shepherds used to take every day, from Aljustrel
to Fatima. Valinhos is an emblematic place for the believers of the Fatima
apparitions, because, according to the accounts of the Fatima seers, it was
there that the Angel appeared in 1916. In Valinhos, you will find points of
interest such as the Way of the Cross on the path that the Shepherds took, the
Hungarian Calvary and the Loca do Cabeço. Return to our hotel.
DAY 3 –
FULL DAY SINTRA
Departure
towards Obidos, a whitewashed medieval town surrounded by its castle
walls. Visit to the small church of Holly Mary and then free time to enjoy the
ancient spirit of Obidos. Proceed the tour to Sintra, to discover one of
the most romantic villages of Portugal. Taste a famous "queijada",
small round cake made with cottage cheese, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
Then possibility of visit the 15th century Royal Palace . Proceed the Journey
to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of continental Europe. Return to
Fatima.
DAY 4 –
FULL DAY BATALHA / ALCOBAÇA / NAZARE
Departure
to Batalha to visit the Portuguese Gothic masterpiece and classified in
UNESCO's International Heritage list, the Santa Maria da Vitória Monastery
(14th-16th centuries) – a national landmark. Special mention must be made to
the Founders' Chapel, with its magnificent stain-glassed windows, cloisters,
Unfinished Chapels (Manueline) and Chapter Hall. Proceed to Alcobaça to
visit the monumental Cistercian Abbey of Santa Maria, founded in 1152
(classified in UNESCO's International Heritage list). Highlights to be seen
inside: Gothic tombs of King Pedro I and Inês de Castro; cloisters; the Chapter
House and immense kitchen. Next stop will be the fishing village of Nazaré,
picturesque fisherman’s’ town where after visiting Sitio, a marvellous view
point over the Atlantic Ocean, you can enjoy some free time or a nice fresh
fish lunch at the beach area. Return to our hotel in Fatima.
DAY 5 –
FULL DAY PORTO / SANTIAGO COMPOSTELA
Departure
to Porto and sightseeing. Visit to the Stock Exchange Palace and the
magnificent gothic church of S. Francisco that on the 17th and 18th century was
covered with most rare high-quality baroque gilt woodcarvings. Time to visit a
famous Port Wine cellar in Vila Nova de Gaia with wine tasting. At previous
arranged time proceed to Santiago de Compostela. Hotel check-in
formalities & overnight.
DAY 6 –
SANTIAGO COMPOSTELA/ FATIMA
Departure in Vigo’s
direction. Short Stop. Continuation to Santiago de Compostela. Walking Tour
with visit to the Cathedral and to the important sights. At previous arranged time transfer to
Fatima. Check-in formalities at the chosen hotel in Fatima. Overnight.
DAY 7 –
FULL DAY LISBOA
Departure
towards Lisboa and visit to the city’s main sites. Visit to Belém
quarter, a place strongly connected to the Portuguese maritime discoveries.
Interior visit of the church of Jerónimos Monastery (1501), a masterpiece of
the Manueline style declared World Heritage by UNESCO). Still in Belém, visit
the exteriors of Belém Tower (1515) and the exteriors of the Monument to the
maritime Discoveries (1960). Proceed to Cristo-Rei Statue passing the 25th
april Bridge drive to the old town. Droop off near Campo das Cebolas. Visit to
the picturesque streets of Alfama, the most ancient quarter of the city.
Drive by other main sites of Lisbon: Marques de Pombal roundabout, Avenida da
Liberdade, Restauradores and Rossio squares. At previous arranged time check-in
at our hotel in Lisboa and overnight.
DAY 8 –
DEPARTURE TRANSFER
At previous
arranged time departure transfer to Lisbon Airport for flight check-in.
