About Portugal

Thanks to its unique combination of location, climate, safety, gastronomy and people, Portugal is one incomparable destination for your event, incentive or congress.

Portugal has a mild Mediterranean climate with over 200 days of sun per year. In Lisbon you will find the sunniest European capital with one of the most pleasant weathers all over the year.

The Portuguese people are polite, easy-going, helpful and friendly, welcoming all guest regardless their origin. And, in fact, visitor’s origins are from all over the world, as the country is located on the western coast of Europe and is point of entrance into the Schengen zone. A large part of the population speaks foreign languages, especially English. To the Portuguese, their nation is a place they truly love.

Portugal has an excellent geographical location. Located on the southwestern coast of Europe, Portugal and its capital city, Lisbon, have been at the centre of “globalization” influence, linking Europe to Africa, the Americas and Asia. At the meeting point between three continents - Europe, Africa and America -, it has always been central to the most important international routes. Here you can find international airports all over the country - Lisbon, Faro and Porto and regular connections to the major cities in the world.

If you want to discover the magnificence of Portugal, the country has a modern road network waiting to be explored: it only takes two/three hours to get from Lisbon to Porto or Faro, the major cities in the north and south of the country.

Portugal is a foodie’s paradise! Fresh fish is a must in Lisbon. The Bacalhau is another must – salted and dried cod that became the Portuguese national dish and can be cooked in uncountable ways. However, meat-eaters won’t be disappointed either.

There are several typical markets in town to buy good quality products from local producers and dining out is very affordable.

The Café culture is a big part of Portugal´s national culture, particularly in Lisbon and Porto, where you can find some of Europe´s oldest and most beautiful cafés.

Besides its beauty, Portugal is also one of Europe’s safest countries, as supported by various crime statistics. In terms of violent crime, Portugal is rated as the 3rd safest country in the world (according to the 2019 and 2020 Global Peace Index).
