PORTUGAL & SPAIN HIGHLIGHTS

DAY 1 – ARRIVAL TO LISBON
Arrival to Lisbon airport. Meet and Greet with our local guide. Panoramic visit of the downtown areas: Marquês de Pombal, Avenida da Liberdade and Rossio Square. Visit to the old town of Alfama, the oldest district of Lisbon. After visit to the St. George Castle and a walk through the Alfama narrow streets, we proceed to Belém, the area strongly linked to Portugal’s Golden Age of Discoveries. Today it is a spacious green area with many gardens, parks and monuments that are well worth a visit. Amongst Belém’s attractions are the Jerónimos Monastery, the Monument to the Discoveries and the Tower of Belém. Transfer to our hotel for check-in and overnight.

DAY 2 - DAY AT LEISURE or
Optional Full Day tour to Sintra & Cascais.
Come and discover with us the magnificent village where the Royal Family used to live during the summer and we invite you to taste the local traditional pastry. In this charming region, you will also admire the Europe’s Westernmost point called Cabo da Roca, the incredible Boca do Inferno, the Cosmopolitan Cascais and the Casino Estoril gardens. Return to our hotel.

DAY 3 – FULL DAY FATIMA / COIMBRA / PORTO
Departure to Fatima, the most popular reference for catholic pilgrims since 1917. Visit to the shrine and the places related to the apparitions. Proceed to Coimbra, the most important cultural city in the centre of Portugal. It was the capital of the kingdom in the early days of the Monarchy (12th century) and has one of the most important universities of Europe. Visit the main University, the Royal Library and the Old Cathedral of Coimbra, the most important Romanesque Roman Catholic building in Portugal. Continuation in Porto’s direction. Arrival to our hotel.

DAY 4 – FULL DAY PORTO
Departure to a tour through this fantastic city. Visit to the most important sights, passing through Boavista Avenue until Castelo do Queijo, continuing along the Douro Foz reaching the Ribeira area. Visiting the Stock Exchange Palace and St. Francis Church. Departure to Vila Nova de Gaia to visit one of the famous Port wine cellars, including a wine tasting. Return to our hotel.  

DAY 5 – FULL DAY  VILA REAL / SALAMANCA
Departure to Salamanca, passing by the beautiful cities of Amarante, Vila Real and Lamego. Arrival in Salamanca, the "Golden City". Panoramic tour of the city with its university, one of the oldest in Europe, the House of Shells, the Old and New Cathedrals and the magnificent Plaza Mayor, considered the most beautiful in Spain. Arrival at our hotel for check-in and overnight.

DAY 6 – FULL DAY  ESCORIAL / MADRID
Departure in Madrid direction. The first stop will be in the Royal Seat of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, a historical residence of the King of Spain, in the town of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, about 45 km northwest of the capital, Madrid. It is one of the Spanish royal sites and functions as a monastery, royal palace, museum and school. It is also known shorthand as El Escorial or the Escorial. Visit to the Monastery, declared World Heritage by UNESCO. Continuation to the “Valle de los Caídos” (Valley of the Fallen"), which is a monument intended to commemorate all those who died on both sides during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). Arrival to Madrid. Hotel check-in and overnight.

DAY 7 – FULL DAY MADRID
Panoramic tour of Madrid, passing by the main touristic points of the city: The Plaza de España, Plaza Cibeles, the Paseo del Prado and its famous Museum, the Parque del Retiro, the Puerta del Sol and the Plaza Mayor. Free time to enjoy the city atmosphere.

DAY 8 – FULL DAY TOLEDO / CÓRDOBA
Departure towards Toledo, city of 'Three cultures' and capital of Castilla la Mancha. Visit of the town classified as World Heritage by UNESCO, highlighting the gates of the city, the Alcazar, the Cathedral, the monasteries, the synagogues and finally the Church of Santo Tomé in which we can find El Greco's masterpiece El Entierro del Conde de Orgaz. Proceed to Córdoba. Arrival at our hotel, check-in and overnight.

DAY 9 – FULL DAY GRANADA
Visit to Córdoba. Situated in the interior of Andalusia where past and modernity blend in together, this thousand-year-old city, which has the World Heritage designation, is a living legacy of the different cultures that settled here throughout its history. Proceed to Granada. With more than a thousand years of recorded history, Granada enjoys one of Spain's most important cultural and architectural patrimonies. Besides the Alhambra, the world renowned palaces and fortresses of the Nasrid dynasty, and the historical Moorish Albaicín quarter, both designated as World Heritage by the UNESCO, Granada boasts a Renaissance Cathedral dating from the 16th century and many other architectural monuments of the first magnitude. Arrival at our hotel and check-in.

DAY 10 – FULL DAY GIBRALTAR / ALGECIRAS / SEVILLA
Departure to Sevilla. Head south to Gibraltar, attached to Spain, yet an independent colony under British control since 1704. Visit the Rock of Gibraltar, St. Michael’s Cave and see the Barbary Apes, legendary guardians of the colony. The next stop is Algeciras. Its location, on the eastern end of the Algeciras Bay, across from Gibraltar, has made it one of the most important ports in Europe, for both passengers and merchandise. The oldest area of the city, with narrow and steep streets, is the district of San Isidro. Among the most interesting monuments we have the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Palma, from the 18th century, and the Chapel of Nuestra Señora de Europa, from the 17th century. Proceed to Sevilla. Arrival at our hotel for check-in and overnight.

DAY 11 – FULL DAY SEVILLA / ÉVORA
Departure for a tour of the Sevilla, starting by the Parque de Maria Luisa, the Plaza de Espãna, the Cathedral, the largest Gothic building in the world where is tomb of Christopher Columbus, the Giralda and the Jewish Quarter of Santa Cruz. Proceed to Évora. Arrival at our hotel, check-in and overnight.

DAY 12 – FULL DAY ÉVORA / LISBOA
Visit to the historical city center with emphasis to the most emblematic monuments: the Cathedral, the Roman Temple of Diana, the Church of S. Francisco and the Chapel of Bones. Some free time to enjoy the city.
At previous arranged time, departure transfer to Lisbon airport. Flight check-in.
