DAY 1 –
ARRIVAL TRANSFER
Arrival transfer from Lisbon Airport to the chosen hotel and check in
formalities. Overnight.
DAY 2 – HALF DAY LISBON
Lisbon is an illuminated city. The almost constant presence of sunshine and the
River Tagus transforms the Portuguese capital into a mirror of a thousand
colours - highlighting the city’s unique architecture and beauty. Start by visiting Belém, an area strongly linked to Portugal’s Golden Age of
Discoveries as the site where the famous navigators set sail to discover the
world. Today it is a spacious green area with many gardens, parks and monuments
that are well worth a visit. Amongst Belém’s attractions are the Jerónimos
Monastery, the Monument to the Discoveries and the Tower of Belém. Proceed then to downtown for a panoramic visit of Marquês de Pombal, Avenida da
Liberdade and Rossio’s Square. Next, visit to the old town of Alfama the oldest
district of Lisbon, spreading on the slope between the S. Jorge Castle and the
Tejo River. A short walk of the Alfama quarter will be done, to appreciate the
small, curvy streets and its popular life and atmosphere.
DAY 3 – FULL DAY SINTRA
Sintra, a charming small town that due to its microclimate and natural beauty
was chosen by the Portuguese Royalty as a vacation spot for many centuries. Due
to its immense historical background and buildings UNESCO declared Sintra World
Heritage. In here we suggest a visit to Sintra’s beautiful monuments, such as
the National Palace, Quinta da Regaleira or Pena Palace, or just some free time
to explore the historical centre. In the afternoon, departure towards Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of
continental Europe. About this special place, the great Portuguese epic poet,
Luis de Camões wrote: “this is where the land finishes and the sea
begins”. Driving by the coastal area of Guincho, arrival to Cascais a former
fishing village nowadays more faced into services & tourism. If timing
allows it, some free time will be given in Cascais Bay. If
returning to Lisbon, we will take the boulevard road, Avenida Marginal, passing
by Estoril.
DAY 4 – FULL DAY FATIMA / BATALHA / NAZARE / OBIDOS
Departure in the morning towards Fátima, centre of Christian faith and world
pilgrimage. Continue towards Batalha, where it’s located the Portuguese Gothic masterpiece
and classified in UNESCO's International Heritage list, the Santa Maria da
Vitória Monastery (14th-16th centuries) – a national landmark. Next,
departure to Nazaré, a picturesque fisherman’s village where after having an
enjoyable lunch you will have opportunity to stop at Sitio, a marvellous
viewpoint over the Atlantic Ocean. Proceed then to Óbidos, one of the most important sites in the history of
Portugal. Quite close to the capital and located on high ground near the
Atlantic coast, you will find a well-preserved castle within the walls and a
maze of streets and white houses that are a delight to stroll amongst. Along
with the Manueline porticoes, the colourful window boxes and the small squares,
many fine examples of religious and civil architecture from the town’s golden
days provide a host of reasons for making a visit.
DAY 5 – DEPARTURE TRANSFER
At a previously settled time, departure transfer. End of Services.
