Clean & Safe stamp 2020
Turismo de Portugal created this tool, involving
several partners, to promote confidence in Portugal as a tourist destination,
with the objective of recognizing companies and leisure activities compliant
with health safety recommendations issued by the National Tourist Authority,
according to National Health Authority guidelines to avoid risks of contagion
of covid-19.
In 2021, Turismo de Portugal established a partnership
with Nova Medical School, to adapt the requirements of the Clean & Safe
stamp to the current guidelines of the Directorate-General for Health,
according to the current pandemic situation and the technical and scientific
knowledge acquired regarding covid-19:
Clean & Safe companies are now covered by the
European Tourism Covid-19 Safety Seal
The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the tourism
ecosystem, causing unprecedented drops in revenues and threatening millions of
jobs. After strenuous lockdowns, citizens long for holidays but expressed
concern about safety from COVID-19. The European Tourism COVID-19 Safety Seal
comes in time for the summer season and can improve safety procedures in
tourism businesses. This way, it can increase the trust of travellers and
tourists, as well as residents and employees, fostering the EU's reputation as
a quality tourism destination.
